Jason Cammisa on the Hagerty channel did a drag race of this not long ago, as he said, the only reason the Mustang won this is only because of the launch off the line, FWD cars are much harder to launch perfectly compared to RWD and AWD, traction issues and torque steer always play a part. But once the cars get rolling the i30 Sedan/Elantra N pulls harder and has a higher trap speed at the 1/4 mile.

Stock for stock an A45s AMG has 310kw just as your FPV from its 4.0L I6, and modified it’ll still leave it for dead as it has a superior power to weight and AWD.
Pretty close …! Just because it is called a mustang doesn’t mean that it is fast … both run 4 cylinders … I would say … Here are two 4 cylinder cars drag racing … 😂
I'm a Ford man and we have a Mach 1 in the family (and had an i30N before that) but there is no way on earth I would buy that. The N will still be running great when the Mustang has munched its third motor due to oil pump belt failure. And yes, a Mustang is cool - but a 4 cylinder one is deeply embarrassing. Of those, I would have the N 100 times out of 100.
I'm not talking about the Mach 1, I was talking about the 4 banger. The Coyote is great, the 4 pot will crap itself like all motors with a belt in oil. Look up belt in oil engines and tell me that's a good idea and you want to own one.
@@mahcooharper9577 - the 2.3L petrol turbo is timing chain not wet belt design, the issue with the Mustang Turbo is the "scavenger" single exhaust port that feed the turbo, yep they don't have separate exhaust ports so the turbo housing is water cooled and this is a known fail point with all ecoboost engines, what happens is the coupling cracks and coolant gets into the bores which then causes the head to twist due to miss fire and bang new engine. the sensor only tells you when coolant levels fall below minimum levels so you wont even now bout it until the engine light comes on.

Great review/comparision. Man this new stang is a porker. A mid size coupe that is freaking 230kg heavier than a 4 door sedan (keep in mind both are having small 4 cylinder motors), WTF is wrong with Ford? The second facepalm is how did they manage it less engaging to drive than a "wannabe" sports sedan... Cmon we know that Ford engineers can do nice things to cars (Fiesta ST, Focus RS anyone? 302 Boss, GT350/500 stangs?). The new mustang is a huge missed opportunity.
mustang side of the road is wet too. the ecoboost gets shit because of neanderthals not being able to understand 2 things can both be true at the same time. I mean, if i could buy either, i'd get the GT but to snark at the ecoboost is pure brainrot. If you daily the car, love carving backroads and not going to keep it long term. I would wager the mustang would be quicker on track with the same rubber too. the mustangs rwd with its diff and propper brembo brakes. I highly highly doubt the i30 would keep up.
It's not "Neanderthal" or "brainrot", I love 4 cylinders and would very happily have an i30N. A Mustang is supposed to be a muscle car, and even if it's fairly quick it's not a muscle car if it's running a 4 cylinder and an auto. And anyone who buys a highly stressed 4 banger with a rubber oil pump belt instead of something bulletproof, charismatic and muscular like a Coyote is off their head.
@@mahcooharper9577 HAHA so you're the neanderthall. highly stressed? are you unwell sir? They have 2 bangers dailying from factory at over 400hp these days with 5 year warranties. They have corolla 3 cylinders hitting over 300hp. Do you think the coyote's dont have issues? LMAO... the ecoboost is not stressed at all. this 2024 a fully redesigned bottom up engine with much stronger block and free flowing head compared to first and second iterations of the ecoboost back in 2015 and then the updated version using the RS block and head in 2019 and then they eek out an extra 5hp and 25Nm? Do you know, that the 2019s with a tune run 400hp day in day out. 100hp increase and torque bump to 600Nm without any issues? 10second on stock block. Anyway, neanderthall, you proved my point. The mustang GT is hardly a muscle car, a high hp low capacity v8 with low torque compared to any of its competitors. Camaro, higher torque, dodge higher torque, M4 higher torque, C63 higher torque. i dont know a competitor with lower torque. I did say if i had to buy one over the other it would be the GT. so not sure how you missed that, the issue is the hate the ecoboost gets. even bloke doing the video is constantly pumpin up the i30 and low key taking shots at the ecoboost for no reason other than the neanderthall brainrot.

I really do question a track day in front wheel drive. I get that that the Hyundai might be better under brakes and have better turn in but it can never give rear wheel drive experience and it is proven over a long time that the Johny come latterly in front wheel drive comes and goes at the track but not the rear wheel drive enthusiasts
You concocted a meaningless virtual drag race with two cars that have similar specs but one is much heavier and loses out in the power to weight ratio but out-performed the lighter car in a drag race yet the conclusion was to choose the lighter defeated car because it can do more on a track? Makes no sense it was a drag race and the Mustang won...
Haha its looks are an acquired taste for sure. But mine gets a bunch of compliments in public so it can’t be that ugly. I also love the sound. And as far as mechanicals go, you’re very mistaken. The N platform has proved to be remarkably robust.
The mechanicals are rock solid. Hyundai has won the last two Australian TCR championships running the same engine that is internally stock. That Hyundai wasn't octane learned. 15psi is its low non octane learned boost. When octane learned, it does 18-19 psi.
Worth easily 30 plus hp.
Either way, 100% Hyundai for me.
i30 hands down.
I know which one is going to give a far better resale in many years to come and probably has less so called tech to go wrong and it just looks so much better and is far far more appealing unless some ones suffers from dyslexia!
4 cylinder Mustang and Supra drag race if you can .
Now race it against the GT LOL curious to see the difference there

and I'll take the Tickford modded Windsor 5.0L V8 in the AU Series III XR8 over the Barra.

Double wishbone set up front and rear.
From the BA onward it was Double Wishbone set up front only as it is cheaper plus Ford USA began to limit the money flow to Ford Australia. They didn't like it that The Aussie Fords were better cars.
The perfect combination would have been Double Wishbone front and Rear with the RSpec chassis that they occasionally used
You can brag all you want about modified vehicles but truth to the matter is most modern 4 cylinder turbos have equivalent performance to sedans that have V8’s or 6 cylinder turbos from 10-20 years ago.
Stock for stock an A45s AMG has 310kw just as your FPV from its 4.0L I6, and modified it’ll still leave it for dead as it has a superior power to weight and AWD.
These aren't notchbacks they're fastbacks with turbo petrol four cylinders.
The Mustang looks like a million dollars compared to any Hyundai
Pretty close …!
Just because it is called a mustang doesn’t mean that it is fast … both run 4 cylinders …
I would say … Here are two 4 cylinder cars drag racing … 😂
"Just an 8-speed"! Oh how things have changed. lol

its the sound buddy that will not match.
I think the designers of the Hyundai i30 sat down at a table, and said "allright lets make this thing as ugly as possiblble"
@@mahcooharper9577 mach 1 very rare to have that issue (doubt third motor- lies). Mach 1 is light years better than any En. Just stop.
@@351tgv oil pump belt is still rubber. It's a hard no.
ecoboost mustang is actually lighter than the weight you are saiying, you talking about base 5.0 ecoobost is around 3588 and gt 3827

I'm not sure what figure you want me to use. Every reliable source I can find in Australia says 1746kg.
@@drivingenthusiastaustralia that is so stupid, maybe its because you are in australia, in canada its not that heavy, i owned a 2017 and now a gt you can feel the ecoboost is lighter by a lot haha
Do love flying past Mustangs on the track though 🙊. Get out and drive an N people! It will not disappoint.
@mahcooharper9577 mate the i30n isn't perfect built either. They have timing chain issues, faulty fuel pumps and piston slap problems.
@@davothegreat9990 nothing is perfect built - mine had a fuel pump issue, which was quickly and easily sorted out.
A rubber belt submerged in oil is going to be a constant problem for the life of the car which can't be mitigated against.
Can we talk about the skid marks leading off the road into the rough…?hope that car was ok.. 🤔 🤣
Great video. Here is a recent US video of a few performance cars. The I30N Sedan doesn't seem to be octane learned as it usually does around 13.3-13.6s on the quarter mile based on a few that have run at Eastern Creek.

A car comparison with a Mustang in it.
Que all the anti Mustang Trolls
Hot hatch wannabe snobs would prefer a front wheel drive track car to a rear wheel drive. I get that the hot hatch probably has some evolution out of Hyundai rally experience.
Yes, RWD is definitely more fun. If only the N sedan was RWD!
The i30 N looks hurt my eyes and it's farts hurt my ears. Apparently the mechanicals are like glass, quite prone to breakage.
And they have a reputation in the paddock as the most reliable. Hyundai also offers track warranty. Reckon they would offer that if they were "like glass, quite prone to breakage?"
I'd still choose the Hyundai ❤
The Elantra has to be the ugliest sports car ever, and FWD does not belong on any track..
Another ugly hyundai Kia look much better still take the mustang everyday
Does anyone else think the Hyundai is possibly the ugliest car on the road today?! 🤮
4 banger mustang why would you do that Ford is disgrace making a mustang with anything less than a V8
Don’t forget Ford have had 4 cylinder Mustangs in previous models years ago now and also sixes geez even the first one came with a 170 ci Falcon six in the thing and I reckon it’s good that there are choices for anybody especially all the old couta’s out there that want a quick sporty car without noise, let them choose what they want as obviously there’s a demand otherwise they wouldn’t make them, and No one can argue that it’s 1/4 mile times are pretty bloody decent and who gives a shit what someone else thinks of the fours as one wouldn’t buy the thing to please a stranger
@jamesgovett3225 yeah I know that and they sucked too I have a Ford falcon tattoo on my arm more of a Ford fan thsn most people in the world blue blooded all the way hate Chevy and those Holden chevs downunder don't need to tell me the history of Ford
